Project Description
Margo Thomas: Implementing a Pro-Women Policy Agenda.
Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt
As Egypt looks took over the chair of the African Union in 2019, the Africa 2018 Forum was organized to promote greater economic integration by helping to shape the region’s private sector agenda, promoting the strengthening of cross-border collaboration and investments, and increasing investment flows into Africa.
Recognizing the critical role of women in economic and social development and the demographic dividend offered by Africa’s youth, the 2018 Forum included a dedicated programme on Women Empowering Africa (WEA). This segment convened women driving change across the continent and facilitated the articulation of “clear action points to ensure they have a stronger voice and more significant presence at the decision-making table, as much in government as in the boardroom”.
